Last night was camera club, and we had a different evening, we had to split up int teams, go and take some images from 8 catergories – then come back together – choose 6 images from different categories to enter into an in house competition, the club president then scored each category out of ten and the evening winners were declared. Time was short – there was no time for editing, so you had to be creative in camera.
The categories were:
- Something “red”
- Something “old”
- Something “bright or shiny”
- A “reflection”
- A “macro shot”
- Something “that cannot move”
- the theme patterns
- Something “looking up” or “looking down”
Our team of four split into 2 teams of two, and we focused on the top half of the list, whereas the other part of our team focused on the bottom half, although in our hour we did try most of them. Seeing everyone’s photos I think it was a challenge in local knowledge, creativity and camera skills. Time was short.
Our team included a photo from everyone… and amazingly our team came joint first – 2 of our images scored a 10 – one of a cattle grid with the sun reflecting on it for shiny, and my macro shot. These are unedited SOC (straight out of camera) images, 2 of them were selected for our team photo. It was also a great opportunity to meet, chat with and get to know other team members.
