Year Two – My Collection – Yellow

My year with yellow… the story behind my yellow collection can be found here. It has been an ongoing project and a journey into themed photography as part of  #AYearWithMyCamera challenge, there is a chance you have seen some of the photos before as I have added them to my “my yellow collection” but some of them may be completely new – all were taken with the concept that they would include yellow …

In 2017 I will be creating another collection inspired by the Pantone Colour of the year for 2017!

Year Two (47) – Creative Buttercups…

One challenge of photography is to try and look at things differently – you can easily get in a creative rut by doing the same thing and taking photos at the same angle – so I headed out in the sunshine with my Nifty 50 lens, with the aim to choose a spot – sit down and spend a few moments photography and experimenting with aperture to create a range of different images of the same scene.

Emma as part of her #Yearwithyoucamera free photography course, encourages you sometimes to think differently about your images…. Continue reading

Year Two (33) – Understanding Light.

Last year I experimented with Eggs and the effects of aperture and shutter speed, this week on #Ayearwithmycamera – Emma challenged us to look at the direction of light and thought that this was a great opportunity to put my camera in manual and take it through its paces … and I thought I would share my results. Year Two (02) – My collection

The first challenge that Emma has set for the #AyearWithMyCamera project is to create a collection.

My first thought was dread … taking a photo and blogging about it everyday suddenly seemed easy as now I need to plan.. I need a theme, something that I can commit to and take a photo of regularly and then I began to think more about what I could I collect and how I could make it possible, bearing in mind that circumstances change throughout the year, sometimes I can go out, sometimes I can’t, sometimes I have more time for taking photos than other times, sometimes structure is great, other times I just want to capture the moment and enjoy it for what it is…. Year Two (01) – Lovely Light at the Beach

I missed blogging, I have not yet made it to the end of day 5 but I miss the purpose it brings to my photography… I like not having to take a photo, and not having to explain why I choose to share or experiment in that way… and out on the beach today I found myself thinking what great light… I want to share it …

So this is the first of my year two posts… I have signed up for Emma’s new challenge – #AYearWithMyCamera, which will no doubt be influencing some of my images… and I have started playing with some of the new equipment I got for Christmas … I have had a tidy up of the blog and I am just going to see how it goes.

I have a freshly calibrated and better monitor (discovered hubby’s was better quality than mine so swapped!) for editing… and I am all set for 2016.
